The fossil fuels and hydro market followed with 564 and 469 deals, respectively, in 2017. The number of asset financing deals in the power industry decreased from 864 deals in 2016 to 641 deals in 2017. North America reported an increase in the number of deals and in deal value with 952 deals worth US$221.3 billion in 2017, as compared to 921 deals worth US$184.3m in 2016. KPMG International Cooperative was ranked at the top of the M&A advisory table for advising on acquisitions, divestitures and mergers of power companies and assets. The company participated in 14 M&A transactions in the power industry, for a deal value of US$277.8m in 2017.
