Summary

Russian Spirits sector accounted for a volume share of 6.1% of the global market and 50.6% of the regional (Eastern Europe) market, in 2016, while registering negative growth during 2011-2016. Reduced purchasing power of consumers due to economic crisis in the country, and the Russian government’s anti-alcohol state policy can be attributed to the decline in the Spirits sector. It was followed by Hypermarkets & Supermarkets and Food & Drinks Specialists with shares of 29.9% and 23.5%, respectively, in the same year. Glass is the most commonly used package material in the Russian Spirits sector. In 2016, it accounted for a volume share of 99.96%, followed by Rigid Plastics with a share of 0.04% respectively.
