Hungarian Spirits sector accounted for a volume share of 0.3% of the global market and 2.6% of the regional (Eastern Europe) market, in 2016. The sector is expected to grow at a CAGR of 1.6% during 2016-2021. Slow growth in the sector can be attributed to heavy taxation on alcoholic beverages levied by the Hungarian government to discourage consumption. However, growing economy and rising demand for Fruit distilled and domestically produced spirits is aiding the growth of the sector. Hypermarkets & Supermarkets is the leading channel for the distribution of Spirits in Hungary. It accounted for a volume share of 34.5% in 2016.
